CRITERIA FOR 2025 ALDA SCHOLARSHIPS

THE NORTH ALABAMA DIETETIC ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP - $500
Donated by the North Alabama Dietetic Association for Junior, Senior, Undergraduate, Graduate or Dietetic Interns
Guidelines:
1. Basis of Application
a. Must be a Junior or Senior majoring in the field of Human Nutrition, Dietetics, Foods, Nutrition or Food Systems Management or admitted or enrolled in a Dietetic Internship
b. Must be a legal resident of North Alabama
c. At the time of application, the student must be a student member of the American Dietetic Association
d. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, and a 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale in major sources of study

ELEMENT HEALTH DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION SCHOLARSHIP - $500

Guidelines:
1. Basis of Application
a. Must be a Junior or Senior majoring in the field of Foods, Nutrition or Dietetics
b. Must be a legal resident of Alabama
c. At the time of application, the applicant must be a student member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
d. Is a member of a group currently underrepresented within the Dietetics Profession, including, but not limited to: African American/Black, Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander, Native American, LGBTQ+, Veterans, and People with Disabilities.
e.Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
Preference for first generation college students

ELEMENT HEALTH SCHOLARSHIP - $500

Guidelines:
1. Basis of Application
a. Must be a Junior or Senior majoring in the field of Foods, Nutrition or Dietetics
b. Must be a legal resident of Alabama.
c. At the time of application, the applicant must be a student member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
d. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
THE WOOD FRUITTICHER GROCERY COMPANY, INC SCHOLARSHIP - $1000
Donated by The Wood Fruitticher Grocery Company, Inc. For Junior level undergraduate or full or part-time graduate students

Aim: To encourage and reward junior level undergraduate students or full or part time graduate
students in ACEND accredited Alabama colleges and universities who have demonstrated ability
and potential in the field of dietetics and nutrition by aiding them financially.
Guidelines:
1. Basis of Application
a. Must of have been enrolled in an ACEND accredited Alabama college or university for at least one quarter or one semester.
b. Undergraduate applicants: At the time of application, the student will be scheduled to complete the requirements for graduation by the end of the following academic year.
c. Graduate applicants: At the time of application, the applicant shall have completed at BS degree or be scheduled for completion before the following fall school entrance date. The degree must be in the field of Foods, Nutrition, Dietetics, and/or Institution or Food Systems Management.
d. Active, associate, or student membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

ALL SCHOLARSHIPS
1. Priority will be given to meritorious applicants who have not previously received an ALDA scholarship.
2. Application materials
a. Application form
b. The official computed cumulative grade point average (all post-secondary work related to Dietetics) should be stated on the application and must be authenticated by a faculty member.
c. Letter of application including statements relating to financial need, immediate and future goals, leadership activities and personal attributes such as initiation and motivation for meeting physical, emotional and family demands as well as graduate school requirements.
d. Resume including personal contact data, education, honors and awards, involvement in clubs and organizations including offices held, professional leadership activities and work on volunteer experience.
3. BASIS FOR SELECTION
a. A scale ranking the following will be used for an objective selection

c. Potential for field of Dietetics and Nutrition ascertained by, for example: Leadership in activities within and outside school, professional interest, honors, activities and work or volunteer experience
